Mace Towani is the Luke-type hero of the first Ewok movie. He is a bit young and annoying, but Eric Walker did a fairly good job portraying him. Mace is not only on a mission to find his parents, but also on a mission to become a man. Throughout his journey he learns to become strong and mature, and the Ewok elders are his teachers. He has a lot of trouble fitting in with the Ewoks, mostly because he can't understand why these small furry creatures and stronger and smarter than him.
Cindel Towani is Mace's little sister. She is
around eight years old, but she is a lot more mature than her older brother
Mace. When Mace and Cindel lose their parents, Cindel becomes very sick,
and socializes with the Ewoks.
Warwick
Davis - Wicket W. Warrick
Wicket is in the same situation as Mace - he is a young Ewok, and he very much wants to become a warrior. Like Mace, he has to learn to become strong, responsible, and mature.
Catarine and Jeremitt Towani are the parents of Cindel and Mace. They are kidnapped by the evil Gorax, and kept in a birdcage in his lair.
The Gorax is the villain of the story. It is
this huge monster that captured the Towanis. The following is a decent
description from The Star Wars Encyclopedia (© Steve Sansweet,
used without permission):
"A giant creature more than thirty meters high, it lives in caverns on Endor's
forest moon and terrorizes the inhabitants such as Ewoks. It wears fur clothing
held together with large stitches and carries fearsome stone axes with which
to hunt at night. A Gorax has thick, matted fur, pointed ears, and a jutting
lower jaw filled with sharp teeth. One of the creatures had captured humans
Jeremitt and Catarine Towani, but it was killed when their children Mace
and Cindel, along with a few Ewok friends, braved the Gorax lair to free
them."
Just about the entire Ewok tribe is included
in this movie, and here is a small list of the primary characters:
Deej Warrick, his sons Wicket, Widdle, and Weechee, wife Shodu, woodsman
and warrior Chukha-Trok, Kaink, and Logray.
