UPDATE:The Ewok films will finally be released on DVD! To read the official press release, click HERE.
EWOK VILLAGE. The Star Wars movies are four of the most successfull movies of all time. In 1984 and 1985 there were two successfull TV movie spin-offs. These two movies were about the furry, friendly creatures that were introduced to us all in 1983 in Return of the Jedi. These movies were The Ewok Adventure and Ewoks: The Battle For Endor and they aired on ABC in 1984 and 1985, respectively. Warwick Davis reprised his role as the lovable Wicket the Ewok and Eric Walker (Mace) and Aubree Miller (Cindel) were two children who are stranded on the moon of Endor. Mace and Cindel Towani are helped by the Ewoks to find their parents who are captured by Gorax, an evil monster who also lives on Endor. Over the years, these two movies have been loved by many fans almost as much as the original Star Wars trilogy. They regularly air on the Disney Channel and up until several years ago were available on video. But unfortunately, these classic chapters of the Star Wars saga are not on video anymore. You can likely still rent them at your local video store, but there is no way to own them forever.
So here's an idea: The Ewok movies on DVD! The DVD medium has become a very powerful way of releasing films with extra features and in the best quality available. In fact, both Ewok movies can fit on just one CD (not necessarily using both sides). There is a lot of interest for everything that has anything to do with Star Wars now, so wouldn't it be a great idea to be able to buy the Ewok movies on DVD? I certainly think so, and I share that opinion with many other fans. In fact, Eric Walker, star of the first Ewok film, has expressed interest in participating in the release of the films on DVD by way of an audio commentary. So have other members of the cast and crew.
Okay, so you read the press release. If it made you laugh, I hope you had a good time. If it fooled you, I'm sorry. Yes, the press release you read at the above address is fake. I wrote it myself, expanding on one LBPound's phony Paramount Box Set press release. I doctored the photo and all the supplemental features on the supposed collection were fabricated. It was all wishful thinking!
Now why would I do such a thing? To anger you, that's why. I hope that after finding out that that press release is fake, you will be angry that the Ewok films are not yet on DVD. And that's where this website comes in.
This website is set up to make Lucasfilm aware of the interest for the Ewok movies on DVD. MGM/UA was responsible for the last video release and Lucasfilm Ltd produced both films. If you too want the Ewoks on DVD, there is something you can do! Although writing a letter to George Lucas will undoubtedly help, I don't see the masses of you picking up your pen and actually sending him a letter. So here is a better idea: Sign an online petition! All you need to do is click on the link below. Once a significant amount of signatures has been gathered, I will print it out and sent it to Lucasfilm. But we'll need a significant number, so please tell all your friends to sign this petition as well. All you need to do is enter the information in the boxes. Please use your real name and location. If you don't feel like disclosing your location, leave it blank. If you don't feel like disclosing your real name, don't sign the petition at all. Please, no jokes. Also, the list of signatures is only visible to ME, and of course Lucasfilm once I send it to them. It is not a public list, but you can, however, see how many people have already signed the petition at the top of the petition page. Thanks, and good luck!
