"Lucasfilm is honored to announce the North American release of THE EWOK DVD COLLECTOR'S BOX SET," said Jim Ward, Vice-President of Marketing for Lucasfilm. "Both films are among the greatest achievements in cinematic history that were never actually seen on the big screen. There is not doubt about it that these films aren't as good as the original "Star Wars" films, but they are treasures nonetheless, and now with their release on DVD, we look forward to providing movie lovers everywhere the opportunity to rediscover -- or discover for the first time -- the power of these extraordinary films."

"We were delighted to collaborate with Lucasfilm in the creation of this extraordinary DVD collection," added Jennifer Waggoner, 20th Century Fox's VP of Technology and Executive Producer of the DVDs. "To have the opportunity to take films that we truly love and spend a few weeks looking through the vaults for interesting 'lost' objects was something too good to pass up. We also enjoyed getting together with the original cast and crew, some of whom hadn't seen each other in years. And of course, it will be a thrill for fans to have three different ways of watching each film, with the brand new audio commentaries that we recorded at Skywalker Ranch in San Rafael."

THE EWOK DVD COLLECTOR'S BOX SET will be supported with 20th Century Fox Home Video's traditional DVD marketing effort. "We really think these discs will sell themselves," said Ward. "Though this is by no means a limited edition, we are only striking a small amount of prints. This is really for the "Star Wars" fans out there, and was done as a labor of love by George and everybody else." To capitalize on the films' wide-ranging appeal, advertising support is designed to reach 35% of all U.S. households 3 times. This advertising campaign includes TV advertising on cable and network television in the U.S. and Canada, as well as print ads in Entertainment Weekly, Star Wars Insider, Star Wars Gamer, Cinescape Magazine and Starlog.

The two films in THE EWOK DVD COLLECTOR'S BOX SET are The Ewok Adventure: Caravan of Courage (1984), and Ewoks: The Battle for Endor (1985). The Ewok films are spin-offs of the successful "Star Wars" film "Return of the Jedi". The films were followed by an animated television series that aired on ABC for two seasons.

THE EWOK DVD COLLECTOR'S BOX SET is priced to own at a MAP (minimum advertised price) of $69.95 in the U.S. THE EWOK ADVENTURE and BATTLE FOR ENDOR are both rated G in the U.S. by the Motion Picture Association of America. Special features, commentaries and supplements not rated.
