Hosted by Carrie Fisher
Details
Just one day after the Star Wars Holiday Special, on November 18, 1978, Carrie
Fisher hosted an episode of Saturday Night Live. The episode started
out with the Blues Brothers' most popular appearance, playing 'Soul Man'.
Then Carrie Fisher came out dressed as Princess Leia to do her monologue,
with a small appearance by Dan Aykroyd as the voice of Obi-Wan Kenobi.
Very humorous, I recommend downloading the clip right here in
Real Audio format
(5.8 MB). The first real skit entitled 'Beack Blanket Bimbo From Outer
Space' features a group of teens in the fifties, played by Bill Murray, Al
Franken, Gilda Radner, Jane Curtin, and others. Suddenly, Carrie Fisher
appears, having traveled to Earth. The group takes her through a sampling
of fifties' stereotypes, and dance to the song 'Obi-Wan Kenobi'. Dan
Aykroyd comes by as 50s horror legend Vincent Price, and even Chuck Berry
stops by.
